Abstract: It is a well known fact that work at home is still unevenly divided between the spouses, due to this women, unlike men, are often confined to the domestic context (Warren, T. 2000). Therefore, as has been also confirmed in this report, women are primarily responsible for the disposal of household solid wastes and are more aware than men of the appropriate household solid waste management practices. The scope of this report is to raise awareness on solid household solid waste management. Chapter I includes an extensive literature review on gender and waste management, and gender attitudes towards the environment. Chapter II and Chapter Ill describe the method used and the results of the questionnaires. Finally there is a discussion followed by a conclusion and a set of recommendations. The scope of the recommendations is to hopefully bring about the required change in attitudes towards household waste management.
