Abstract: In the first two chapters of my dissertation prepared for my studies in Diploma of Baroque Architecture, I shall discuss a retrospective of the Baroque period in Malta and also the evolution of the Maltese small churches. Then will focus on the main subject of this dissertation which is the story and description of the church of St. Bartholomew and the Madonna of the Good Counsel found in Tarxien. A church built in the Maltese Baroque period (late 18th Century) and still stands and used today. The 18th century saw the building of baroque buildings soar on the Maltese islands, and the church of St. Bartholomew and the Madonna of the Good Counsel. This church might be a small church but at the same time an architectural gem, which is worth being studied and written about, besides having an intriguing story.
