In another SIntegraM ImmersionLab collaboration with Mizzi Studio, the Malta Tourism Authority and CAVE experts, the Blue Lagoon is for the first time being replicated virtually, with the aim of being looked at more closely than ever.
Thanks to 4500+ pictures taken by drone, 30+ hours of footage, 2 billion+ data points, the virtual model of the Blue Lagoon will now serve as an accessible tool for individuals involved in planning.
Called ‘Digital Twin’, the initiative is also an excellent opportunity to restore, enhance, protect and preserve the Blue Lagoon Ecosystem.
The Immersion Lab is led by Prof. Saviour Formosa from the University’s Department of Criminology.
Prof. Formosa said the project “is especially dear to us as it posited a veritable handshake with the Mizzi poets/architects”, and it served as a precursor for another project that will soon be launched that will “ground us further closer to the multi-million inMotion technology-intensive project currently at tendering stage”.
