Visit of Delegation from Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Polytechnics (SICP) to the University of Malta

On Thursday, 25 September 2025, the University of Malta welcomed a high-level delegation from the Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Polytechnics (SICP), led by Prof. Dr YE Yinzhong, President of SICP. The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international engagement and explore opportunities for academic collaboration.

The SICP delegation comprised:

• Associate Professor Dr ZHANG Yang, Assistant to the President and Dean of the Malta International School
• Mr SUN Yunli, Dean of PICH School of Service
• Ms XU Huifang, Associate Dean, School of Education
• Ms ZHANG Chao, Lecturer, School of Jewellery and Art Design
• Mr JU Renbin, Lecturer in Gastronomy, PICH School of Service / Malta International School

The University of Malta delegation was led by Prof. Frank Bezzina, Pro-Rector, and included:

• Ms Stefania Agius Fabri, Director, International Office
• Dr Mario Cassar, Deputy Director, Marketing, Communications & Alumni Office
• Ms Shiqi Chen, Student Recruitment Specialist, Marketing, Communications & Alumni Office
  

The programme commenced at the UM Gateway Building, where the visitors were greeted by representatives of the Marketing, Communications & Alumni Office. The delegation was then accompanied on a guided tour of the UM Msida Campus, led by Dr Mario Cassar and Ms Shiqi Chen.

A formal meeting followed in the Administration Board Room, during which Professor Bezzina extended a welcome on behalf of the University of Malta. Presentations were delivered by both institutions, followed by an exchange of views on potential areas of collaboration in academic development. The visit concluded with both parties expressing their commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation.
