On Tuesday 7 April, Prof. Norbert Bugeja delivered the opening session of the Universitè de Montpellier Paul-Valéry’s Le Propre at Le Commun permanent seminar. Speaking to a specialist audience at the UPVM’s prestigious Recherce sur les Suds et les Orients research centre (ReSO), Prof. Bugeja discussed the memorial politics of the Mediterranean from the purview of anglophone postcolonial life writing, memoir and asylum, and Palestine, interpolating with his own experiences across the region.
Prof. Bugeja also delivered a second seminar on the MA Interculturalité et Civilisations programme on Wednesday 8 April, in which he examined the question of de-bordering with a view to examining expectations of and towards the Mediterranean city today. In addition to the two seminar sessions, Prof. Bugeja also acted as respondent to the UPVM ReSO and Italian Studies doctoral and research Masters in-progress presentations held at the university’s historic St Charles campus.
Prof. Bugeja was invited as guest speaker at the Universitè de Montpellier Paul-Valéry through the Professeurs en Mobilité Universitaire programme for 2026.
