Between 14 and 16 April, the University of the Algarve in Portugal, hosted an in-person meeting bringing together SEA-EU Communications Officers, SEA-EU Science communication experts and members of the Communications Expert Representative of institutional communication offices from across the Alliance.
The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration and focus on all SEA-EU communication activities through two parallel sessions, one addressing Communications Office efforts focused on outreach and the other focusing on science communication and engagement, which helped bring the discussions full circle.
The University of Malta (UM) was represented by Director at Marketing, Communications & Alumni Office, Mr Pierre Cassar, Manager Ms Dorianne Tabone, Prof. Edward Duca (DMSE, Faculty of Education), and Mr Tristan Muscat, Communications Officer at the SEA-EU Office.
Throughout the two-day programme, the SEA-EU Communications Office focused on key communication milestones, reviewing progress over the past four years, determining priorities for the final year of SEA-EU 2.0. Meanwhile, the Science Communication Expert Group presented a range of science communication initiatives, including SEA-EU Falling Walls, and the Syren Project. Discussions also covered the impact of Work Package 6.3 across SEA-EU partner universities and the sustainability of the Science Communication Expert Group beyond SEA-EU 2.0.
The meetings concluded with a renewed commitment from the SEA-EU Alliance to communication that connects universities and countries and nurtures a shared SEA-EU identity. It also aims to increase visibility, amplify the voices of staff and students, and strengthen collaboration, knowledge sharing, and engagement.
