Dr Nicolas Riviere is a senior research scientist at ONERA, The French Aerospace Lab in the Department of Optics and Associated Techniques (DOTA). He received his PhD degree in 2006 and conducts research in the field of light scattering and laser imagery. His research interests cover advanced vision in low visibility thanks to 3D laser imaging techniques such as high resolution 3D-LiDAR and telemetric systems embedded on mobile vehicles (eg. drones or planes).
ONERA (Office National d'Etudes et de Recherches Aérospatiales) is the French national aerospace and defense research centre. It uses its research to support both French and European industry and has contributed to many industrial programmes programs, including Ariane, Rafale, Falcon, Mirage and Concorde. The Department of Optics and Associated Techniques (DOTA) conducts studies and research linked to the optical domain and the THz range. These studies are not limited to applications for aeronautics, space and defense but also deal with other fields such as security, the environment, astronomy and medical imaging.
