Following the successful project meeting held in Malta last January, where we hosted a series of workshops and activities in conjunction with FestAmbjent, a group of 10 Junior College students took part in the second phase of the Erasmus+ Project "Fashion Revolution" from March 31 to April 4, 2025. This brought together students from Malta, Italy, and Norway to deepen their understanding of the impact of fast fashion on people, biodiversity, and the planet. During a series of online talks, the students learned about the fashion revolution movement in Italy, and about technological innovations related to circular economy which was presented by RiVestiTO, during which participants were encouraged to question who made their clothes and reflect on the ethical implications of their personal choices. They also had the opportunity to meet sustainable fashion influencer Sara Zampollo for an interactive session, who shared her expertise and insights with the group. In addition to the talks and meetings, students participated in hands-on activities such as refashioning and upcycling preloved clothing. Reflection sessions further reinforced their learning experience.
Sustainable fashion-related activities also took place in the vibrant city center of Turin, offering students the chance to explore its rich cultural heritage. A visit to the Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella provided an exciting opportunity for participants to create collaborative artwork from textile waste, emphasizing the potential for creativity in sustainability.
Throughout the week-long program, students developed crucial skills such as intercultural understanding, social responsibility, teamwork, and creativity. The third phase of the project will see the Maltese students travel to Norway for a similar programme organized by the Norwegian partner school. Ms. Annick Bonello Cassar and Ms. Jacqueline Rotin accompanied the students during this mobility.
