The Theatre and Performance Advanced Level students at G.F. Abela Junior College recently spent a full day immersed in Valletta’s vibrant cultural scene, accompanied by their lecturer, Ms Maria Cristina Zammit. The outing offered students the opportunity to explore several key theatre spaces, including the Valletta Campus Theatre, Teatru Manoel, and Spazju Kreattiv. Throughout the day, they also met professionals working in the field, gaining first-hand insight into the diverse roles and creative processes that shape the performing arts sector.
Following the visits, students engaged in discussions and reflection, allowing them to connect their observations with their academic studies. Experiences like this strengthen essential skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving. They also deepen students’ understanding of theatre as a living art form and highlight the cultural and social value of the arts within the community.
This outing not only enriched the students’ learning but also reinforced the importance of nurturing artistic engagement as part of a holistic education.
