Transition Groups 2026

To help incoming students manage the mix of anticipation and excitement that accompanies starting at a new institution, JC Counselling Services held 12 Transition Group sessions for interested new students.

These interactive workshops offered a space for participants to connect with other new students, share their expectations, concerns and identify internal strengths that will support them in the months ahead.

Key takeaways from the group discussions highlighted both shared ambitions and common anxieties:

  • Hopes & Goals: Achieving the grades needed for UM, settling into a new learning environment, trying new experiences, staying organised, making friends and actively joining the college community.
  • Shared Concerns: Keeping up with academic demands, handling stress, and navigating the social challenge of fitting in.

The students had the opportunity to ask any questions they had about the experience at the College.

To round out the experience, each session concluded with a guided tour of the Campus.
