Xjenza Malta (XM) and Malta Enterprise (ME) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in research, development, and innovation.
The agreement creates a framework to align funding schemes, streamline support from research to commercialisation, and provide resources such as business planning, IP support, and market access. It also promotes sharing of technical expertise, joint outreach, and improved data-sharing to make processes more efficient.
Hon. Silvio Schembri, , Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects, said the MoU simplifies processes and fosters synergy between national entities, turning innovative ideas into opportunities. Parliamentary Secretary Keith Azzopardi Tanti emphasised that collaboration across industry, government, and academia is key to impactful research.
XM CEO Silvio Scerri highlighted the MoU as a step toward a cohesive innovation ecosystem, while ME CEO George Gregory said it would accelerate innovation and reinforce Malta’s role as a hub for research and enterprise.
