International Collaboration at the core of the XJENZA funded project ENHANCE-MT

Skin cancer affects millions of people worldwide, where melanoma remains one of the most serious and life-threatening disease forms. Despite advances in treatment, metastatic melanoma continues to pose major challenges for patients and healthcare systems.

ENHANCE-MT is a three-year research project that aims to increase our understanding of the molecular and cellular changes that occur in metastatic melanoma. By studying human-derived melanoma tissues using advanced scientific techniques, the project will generate new knowledge that may contribute to the future development of more effective and personalised treatments.

The ambitious research programme will deliver important benefits to society. The project will strengthen Malta’s research capacity in biomedical science, build collaboration between academic and industry and foster international partnerships with leading research centres in Canada and Colombia.

ENHANCE-MT (R & I -2025-014T) is led by Professor Marion Zammit Mangion.

The ENHANCE-MT consortium gratefully acknowledges the support of Xjenza, Malta, through funding provided under the Research and Innovation Technology Development Programme.
