Unconventional Science Careers days training sessions

During the past weeks, Dr Danielle M. Farrugia has been hosting two training sessions in preparation for our 2025 Unconventional Science Careers days.

Unconventional Science Careers is an event organised by the Science Engagement Unit at the Marketing, Communications and Alumni Office at the University of Malta aimed at 11 and 12-year-old students. Thirteen schools from the state, church, and independent sectors will join us on Thursday 27 November and Friday 28 November. Students and their educators explore various STEAM topics, participate in hands-on activities, and discover potential career paths in science and visit various faculty buildings.

To make the event as fun and engaging as possible, Dr Danielle M. Farrugia organised two workshops this week with representatives from different faculties who will be designing and running the student activities. Through four interactive exercises, she highlighted the importance of adapting one’s vocabulary to the audience and how teamwork drives progress in scientific research. Through the participatory approach, she provided valuable guidance to help researchers welcome students in the best possible way, enabling them to learn, explore, and develop an interest in their respective fields of research.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone on the 27 and 28 November.
