As the University of Malta’s news portal, Newspoint, celebrates its 10th year in operation, a brand-new revamp of the portal has been announced by the Marketing, Communications and Alumni Office.
The new portal, which was designed with the evolving needs of students, academics, staff, and anyone forming part of the UM community in mind, will still be featuring media coverage on the University, its members and research taking place on campus, as well as scholarship opportunities and upcoming events – but with a faster and smarter experience for its readers.
Weekly notifications will also be shared with current UM community members via email to keep them up to date with UM-related news.
Over the past decade, Newspoint has reported on the momentous stories that have defined the University’s journey — from new rectorships and landmark funding awards to ground-breaking research and UM community achievements.
In the process, it has become the campus go-to for trusted UM news, as well as fresh, diverse, and informed perspectives.
It has also grown in readership, mirroring the increasing diversity of its student body, staff complement, academic community and alumni.
In fact, a recent effort to streamline the ever-growing number of reader submissions to Newspoint was the launch of the ‘Get Published’ form, which gives more detailed guidelines and hence minimises the time needed in between submission and publishing.
The new portal is already available via um.edu.mt/newspoint and will be instrumental in ushering in a new academic year in the coming weeks.
