Exhibition by Professor Raphael Vella inaugurated in Prague

An exhibition by Prof. Raphael Vella from the University of Malta called Places of Attention: Ruins of Reason, Roots of Renewal was inaugurated on 10 October at the Gallery Altán Klamovka in Prague.

Curated by Prof. Lenka Sýkorová, the exhibition includes large-scale drawings on fabric and an experimental video that also integrates drawing into footage of the Canary Islands and Madeira.

Described by the exhibition's curator as "a medium of reflection and resistance", drawing is used to meditate about the meaning of democracy today and "on humanity's relationship to the Earth, to power, and to the structures that shape our daily lives".

The exhibition is located in a beautiful 19th century neo-Gothic pavilion in Park Klamovka and remains open until 20 November, 2025.

During his stay in Czechia, Prof. Vella was also invited to give a doctoral workshop to PhD students at the Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia (UWB) in Pilsen.

Further collaborations will include PhD seminars linking both universities.

Professor Vella has also been formally asked to act as consultant to individual PhD students at UWB. Photos of the doctoral workshop and an interview about Professor Vella's artistic, curatorial and educational ideas were featured on UWB's website.
