In a rare and heart-warming moment, three sisters: Kristina, Francesca, and Martina Catania, each crossed their own graduation milestone this season.
Though their academic paths couldn’t be more different, their journeys have always been intertwined by shared values, unwavering encouragement, and a family bond that carried them through every challenge.
Kristina graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Speech and Language Pathology, a field that reflects her quiet determination and her compassionate spirit.
Francesca completed her B Psychology (Hons), driven by curiosity, ambition, and a genuine desire to understand the human mind.
And Martina, described lovingly by her sisters as the chaotic creative of the trio, finished her Diploma in Design Foundation Studies and has already embarked on a new challenge: studying Architecture.
Different as they are, the sisters complement each other perfectly. “We all let each other do our own thing,” they say, a simple sentence that sums up years of mutual respect and encouragement.
A unique part of their story is the everyday moments shared on campus.
Their father, Dr Gottfried Catania, from the University’s Department of Psychology, would drive them to university, a small routine that became a cherished ritual. On days when schedules lined up, the sisters and their parents would steal a quick coffee together between lectures: tiny pockets of time that grounded them in the middle of their busy lives.
Their parents have always prioritised education, instilling in them the belief that learning never stops. They encouraged the girls to grab every opportunity, to stay curious, and to juggle the chaos of life with determination and grace. That foundation became the anchor of their success.
Today, as they step into new chapters, they stand as a reminder of what can happen when family, ambition, and heart work together.
Which of the three sisters are most likely to arrive late to a lecture, take lots of selfies, or steal their siblings’ clothes without permission?
