Event: Celebrating 25 Years of Spazju Kreattiv: A Conversation with Vince Briffa
Date: 21 October 2025
Time: 19:00
Venue: Studio B, Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta
On 21 October at 19:00, Spazju Kreattiv will host a public dialogue with renowned Maltese artist Vince Briffa, as part of the centre’s 25th anniversary celebrations. The event, held in Studio B, forms part of the Art Collection Initiative, which highlights Spazju Kreattiv’s legacy of nurturing Malta’s contemporary art scene through commissions, exhibitions, and research.
Moderated by Prof. Keith Sciberras and Daniel Azzopardi, the conversation will explore Briffa’s multidisciplinary practice, spanning painting, video, and installation, and how these media intertwine in his exploration of memory, perception, and the in-between spaces of human experience.
Briffa, a professor and researcher at the Department of Digital Arts, has represented Malta twice at the Venice Biennale (1999 and 2019) and exhibited internationally, from the Palais des Nations in Geneva to the Museum of Modern Art in Liechtenstein. His commissioned work Nepenthos, part of The Islands of Odysseus series, features in Spazju Kreattiv’s 25th-anniversary collection, reflecting on forgetting, remembrance, and psychological landscape.
Through this event, Spazju Kreattiv continues to affirm its mission — not only to preserve artistic heritage but to inspire critical dialogue about art’s evolving role in society. The evening offers audiences an intimate look into Briffa’s creative world and invites reflection on how memory, emotion, and experimentation converge in contemporary art.
