The group will visit the Notarial Registers Archive, located within a Baroque palazzo in St Paul Street, Valletta.

This visit will offer an opportunity to learn about and appreciate the valuable work carried out by the Notarial Registers Archives staff, who safeguard and preserve priceless historical documents.

Among the many treasures housed within the Archives is Il-Kantilena, the oldest known literary text in the Maltese language, which the group will have the privilege to view.

First excavated in 1933, more recent studies carried out in the 21st century have provided us with new discoveries and made possible exciting interpretations about Malta's underground heritage.

Wednesday 03 Cultural Tour

Construction works on the Parish Church of Cospicua, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of our Lady, started in 1680.

Works had to stop numerous times, especially due to the plague outbreak of 1676.

The church was eventually completed in 1735 and is now a beautiful sacred space boasting a number of masterpieces including works by Giuseppe Cali, Abram Gatt, and Pietro Paolo Caruana.

The group will be able to appreciate the church at its best since during the visit as it will be fully adorned for the local feast taking place on the 8 December.

Maximum amount of persons: 50 (Coach leaves at 12 -noon- from Bus Terminus opposite Campus Hub)

Thursday 04 Cultural Tour

[SOLD OUT]

The Public Abattoir is the only provider of services related to the slaughter for bovines, swine, equines and small ruminants in Malta.

It provides such services in the cleanest and most hygienic manner, in line with rigorous animal welfare standards whilst ensuring full traceability of such products.

Increasingly, it has been working on research and development to help re-discover traditional foods which risked being lost to history.

At the same time, the Public Abattoir has been working on reducing its food-waste foot-print by diverting by-products into a range of secondary products ranging from mazzit and kirxa for human consumption to parchment for manuscript restoration.

Visitors will be able to tour the swine slaughterline, the mazzit production plant and, time permitting, also a brief demonstration on parchment making.

Maximum amount of persons: 15 (Van will leave at 12 -noon- from Carpark 5 near Maltapost Office)

Friday 05 - Cultural Tour

[SOLD OUT]

Villa Francia is a beautiful baroque residence situated in Lija.

Built by the Preziosi family in 1757, the property was in due course passed on to the Francia family, hence its present name.

In 1987 Villa Francia and its surrounding gardens were given to the Republic of Malta, and the property is presently the Prime Minister’s official residence, thus not generally open to the public.

The group will be able to learn more about the architecture and history of this fascinating structure.

Maximum amount of persons: 50 (Coach will leave at 12 -noon- from the bus terminus opposite Campus Hub)
