| Abstract: | The Capital Projects Fund was launched on 5 January 2015 and was communicated to local councils (LCs) through the Ministry for Justice, Culture and Local Government (MJCL) Circular 2/2015. The Fund, amounting to €1,000,000, was intended to finance capital projects that added value to the social aspect of localities and addressed government priorities. Preference was to be given to projects sustained through alternative financing mechanisms that would serve to supplement central government funding, such as public-private partnerships, donations and sponsorships. Although not a determining factor, due consideration was to be given to projects contributing a financial return to the Fund in the future. The deadline for the submission of proposals was set for 30 January 2015. Further information about the Fund was provided at the information meetings organised on 8 January 2015. |
