Abstract: Tumor ablation is defined as the direct application of chemical or thermal therapies to a tumor to achieve eradication or substantial tumor destruction. Technologies used for tumor ablation have included ethanol ablation, cryoablation (freezing), laser ablation, radiofrequency (RF) ablation and microwave ablation. RF and microwave ablation are fast becoming established tools for the minimally invasive management of solid malignant tumors.
