Abstract: This research study seeks to find out the perception that colour creates within our local demography and the people’s reaction when they are exposed to buildings in their original context with different colours My interest in Maltese contemporary architecture has helped me in enhancing this study. The project is a reflection of the findings listed in the contextual review, where various works from different artists have been referred to. Discussed in chapter 3 is the experience that the audience will encounter when visiting the exhibition, and also the interactivity they will exhibit when creating their own environment. A quantitative approach has been taken in this research due to the fact that various opinions from the target audience chosen were needed. It was agreed that the setting would take form of an online survey with a target audience aged between 18 and 24. A pilot study was conducted and then the survey was published online. After four days the survey was closed down for verification. This study showed that the majority of the selected audience have no idea of what contemporary architecture is, whilst the ones who knew managed to successfully identify a contemporary building. The findings also showed that the majority of the participants wouldn’t accept a building such as those presented in the survey in their area. Further to this, the researcher intends to continue this study with various questions at hand. A set of questions that the researcher intends to further develop could be found in this work.
