Abstract: | This special issue of Comparative Education focuses on education in small states. It seeks to place in sharp relief the strengths and weaknesses of different aspects of educational provision in political jurisdictions having a very small population – populations which encounter specific challenges, threats and opportunities. Despite the many similarities that are revealed in the collective articles, it remains difficult to generalise when discussing the characteristics of small states. |
