Abstract: Few reactions is biochemical pathology have attracted such widespread coverage and debate, as have free radical mechanisms. The latter are now recognised to be active participants in various diseases. Inflammatory conditions, in particular, owe part of their symptomatology to tissue damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS). Augmentation of the natural antioxidant defence system has often been reported to produce significant clinical amelioration.
