Abstract: This document contains research about the second plague which hit the Maltese islands- that of 1813, which resulted into approximately 5,000 deaths from a population of around 100,000. The authors describe the preventive measures taken in order to mitigate the disease, discusses the contents on two wooden tablets and provides an insight into the social and religious background of the event of the plague.
