Abstract: This Case Study explores the habits of parents and caregivers visiting the Ħaż-Żebbuġ Branch Public Library in order to borrow books for babies and toddlers aged from birth to three years old. The benefits of reading to babies from birth are investigated. Amongst these include secure attachment, socialisation and lifelong learning. Different types of books for this target group are considered. Moreover, contemporary trends in library settings focusing on the needs of families are discussed. The challenges of the future public library are also examined while suggestions are put forward.
