Abstract: Cassar's narrative venture inside the Lazzaretto buildings provides invaluable insight about the history of the old hospital, situated in Manoel Island, Gzira. With reference to numerous marble tablets erected inside the hospital and other sources, the author manages to provide information about its patients and their reasons for being quarantined, the rules that patients were to adhere to and other miscellaneous happenings that occurred within the walls of the hospital.
