Abstract: N. Tagiaferro, with the assistance of Giuseppe Despott and of the two caretakers of the Museum, Messrs. Delia and Brincat during the discovery of some fossil animal bones in a rock-fissure at Corradino Hill, came to know that certain fossils were those of a new gigantic land tortoise much bigger than the Testudo robusta described and figured by Dr. Leith Adams in a paper on the Gigantic Land Tortoises from the Ossiferous Caverns of Malta.
