[Geological discovery] on the occurrence of a new gigantic land tortoise at Corradino, Malta

Abstract

N. Tagiaferro, with the assistance of Giuseppe Despott and of the two caretakers of the Museum, Messrs. Delia and Brincat during the discovery of some fossil animal bones in a rock-fissure at Corradino Hill, came to know that certain fossils were those of a new gigantic land tortoise much bigger than the Testudo robusta described and figured by Dr. Leith Adams in a paper on the Gigantic Land Tortoises from the Ossiferous Caverns of Malta.
