Domestic structures in prehistoric Malta

Abstract

It was not until quite recently that intensive excavation at the sites of Skorba and Borg in-Nadur revealed the remains of several prehistoric huts. The following enquiry examines briefly the origins and development of these structures. In the light of present study it appears that two processes contributed towards the formation of Maltese prehistory. The first and most important of these formative processes is Immigration - new peoples arriving from overseas, settling and developing their culture in relative isolation. The following immigrations form the principle landmarks in the prehistoric culture sequence.
