Abstract: “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” Michelangelo Buonarroti Since Prehistoric times, man has felt the need to explore nature’s materials as medium for expressive creation. The process of reshaping earth’s substance to quench this innate need has been fundamental in the creation of human culture as we know it. Indeed, the earliest known works of representational art are stone carvings, with the practice of transforming stone into sculpture being older than civilisation itself.
