| Abstract: | Mid-Med Bank has associated itself with various cultural and educational events or projects through sponsorship or other form of financial assistance. The Bank has enabled organisations or individuals to fulfill their role in creating or maintaining alive local cultural characteristics. In line with this role the Bank initiated a research study which explored some financial aspects existing during the period that the Knights of Malta ruled the Maltese Islands. From this research details emerged on the financial organisational structure, the sources from which they derived their income and the application of these funds towards various items of expenditure. The results of the research unearthed highly informative and interesting details on the financial approach and documentation as maintained by the Knights during the 17th Century. |
