Abstract: After the President of Malta dissolved Parliament on 7 January 2013, Dr Lawrence Gonzi, Prime Minister of Malta, presented the Speaker of the House of Representatives two motions to remove from office two judges of the Superior Courts. The text of these motions remains unpublished. One of these motions concerns the removal from judicial office of Mr Justice Carmelo Farrugia Sacco. Prime Minister Gonzi was reported as having stated that if the Commission for the Administration of Justice were to make its recommendations after the dissolution of Parliament, he would ask the dissolved Parliament to be recalled on a date in the interim period up to the general elections to be held on 9 March 2013.
