Abstract: By means of a review of the international research literature, this chapter outlines the various benefits of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). After discussing Malta as a case study of a country where CLIL is gradually being implemented through teacher training, this chapter explores the necessary teacher education and development provisions that need to be in place in order for pre- and in-service teachers to be fully equipped with the knowledge, skills and beliefs necessary to effectively harness CLIL’s potential.
