Abstract: One of the least known, but most fascinating prehistoric sites in Gozo, can be found in Xagħra, almost at the end of 8th September Avenue, roughly opposite the public garden. The distance to Ġgantija temples is about 300 metres and to the Xagħra Stone Circle less than 150 metres. It is part of the westeasterly conglomeration of prehistoric sanctuaries, with Santa Verna temple at one end and Ġgantija at the other. At closer inspection, the site itself consists of three elements, arranged in an almost equilateral triangle with sides of about 11 metres: a shape of megalithic remains, now heavily overgrown by very healthy almond trees, the oval entrance of a cave, named ta' Għejżu, and an about one metre deep depression in the bedrock, enforced by megaliths.
