Abstract: This book consists of a collection of papers delivered at the first conference dedicated solely to the archaeology of Qumran. The book is divided into four parts, and is preceded by a foreword by John J. Collins, and an introduction by Katharina Galor and Jürgen Zangenberg, part of which sketches the history of research into the archaeology of Qumran. The fundamental issue tackled by the book is the need to re-consider the archaeology of Qumran in light of new evidence, and most of all to do so using appropriate archaeological methodology.
