Abstract: The subject of the water supply in Malta and Gozo, as repeatedly engaged the attention of the Government, and, at times, very earnestly and effectually. In the former island, between 1840 and 1846, the sources of the Wignacourt Aqueduct were improved, and the Fawra Aqueduct, fed from other sources, was constructed; between 1863 and 1869, the sources of the first mentioned aqueduct were· again materially added to, and the aqueduct for the conveyance of water from fresh sources, Ta L'Armier, San Sebastiano, and La Vittoria, in the valley of casal Curmi, was built; and between 1858 and 1874 a great number of tanks were formed, partly for collecting surface water in localities not reached by any of the existing aqueducts, and partly for storing water fro;n those aqueducts, in abundant years. And at Gozo, in 1840-43, an aqueduct was constructed carrying water to Rabato from Ghain Abdul and Ghar Elma ; and between 1860 and 1874, several tanks were also formed in different places...
