Abstract: The protection of human rights plays a vital role in the 21st century owing both to the growing regard for the safeguarding of fundamental rights and freed oms and because of the worst human rights violations on record which have occurred. Social, political, civil, economic and cultural developments cannot be effected without the respect and promotion of human rights. Therefore, the protection of these rights and freedoms are of immense importance both for the individuals affected and for the development of society as a whole. Human Rights require safeguarding. Only when nations realize this, can transparency, democracy, peace and security be strengthened and guaranteed. The creation of international instruments for the protection of human rights is a pre-condition for making fundamental rules effective. Such development of binding systems for the respect of the rule of law, democracy, cultural tolerance and human rights has only happened relatively recently.
