Abstract: It is certainly truthful and I believe, acceptable for me to state that the reason for the existence as well as the primary role of businesses is to make profits. It is in fact a prime responsibility of business to make profits. If businesses do not make money, they will fail in their objectives, they will fail the shareholders that have invested and they will also fail their employees. However, it is a fact that there is more and more pressure from customers, from society in general, from governments as well as voluntary recognition by companies that these profits should be sought in a manner that corresponds to the expectations of society. Of course, there are various ways of doing this. Differences occur according to the sector and type of company concerned.
