Abstract: International law is itself another victim of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Palestinian demands can be achieved and peace simply and effectively secured through the implementation of international humanitarian and human rights law. The marginalisation of international law is clearly illustrated by a review of the history of the Palestinian/ Israeli conflict, particularly if we focus on the effects of the Oslo Process and the Separation Wall. It is important to maintain a sense of "strategic optimism" based on the acknowledged power of the idea that the Palestinian cause is a just and legitimate one.
