| Abstract: | This article describes the life around the entertainment areas of Floriana and Valletta during the inter-war period. The stationing of the British naval fleet in the Grand Harbour brought with it economic growth. This could be seen through the amount of music halls and bars located around the harbour area during the first half of the twentieth century. The “Roaring Twenties” emphasised a period of social dynamism coupled with artistic and cultural aspects of the US. Vaudeville artistes from Europe came to perform in these places of entertainment. |
