Abstract: This report provides a comprehensive analysis of crime statistics for the year 2008 along with a comparative overview of crime trends from 2007. The data used for this analysis is derived from official crime statistics. The purpose of this report is to identify significant changes in crime rates and to offer insights into underlying trends. Crime decreased by 9% from 2007 to 2008. However, just one category of crime (Theft) is mainly responsible for the crime figures. Computer Misuse, Domestic Violence, Drugs, Forgery, Fraud, Homicide, Pornography, Sexual Offences, Trafficking of Persons and Violence against Public Officers increased. Arson, Bodily Harm, Damages, Perjury and False Swearing, Prostitution, Theft and Threats and Private Violence decreased.
