Abstract: First performed in 1944, Sartre's one-act play Huis clos is the source of the often misquoted expression "hell is other people." A Maltese version of this existential drama, produced by Kevin Saliba and directed by Tyrone Grima, graced the Spazju Kreattiv stage from January 27 to 29, 2023. The play explored the experiences of three recently deceased characters who are brought into a room in hell: Garcin, a revolutionary burdened by cowardice; Estelle, who killed her illegitimate child; and Inez, a predatory lesbian.
