Abstract: There were many incidents in Malta during World War II which not many of us today are aware of.
Considering the continuous air raids by German and Italian aircraft, regular attacks on convoys, mine-laying in the approaches to Grand Harbour and the Italian E-boat attack on July 26, 1941, bomb and mine disposal had played an important role in Malta’s defence. During the early years of the war when attacks on Malta were still being carried out by the Italian air force, the Regia Aeronautica, another common threat was the aerial torpedo.
