Abstract: Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) has emerged as a risk factor for hospitalization, critical illness and mortality in COVID-19 infection. 10% of all 20-79 year olds in Malta suffer from diabetes, this places Malta in the first quartile within the European region. The aim of this study is to describe the incidence, demographics, and outcomes of COVID-19 patients with DM admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Mater Dei Hospital, Malta.
