1. The other points I have stated above, according to the right rule of Church doctrine; and now, finally, I wish to profess what I hold concerning this one, and close therewith this treatise of my confession of faith. But who or what am I to speak of the depths of so wonderful and ineffable a mystery? It is enough for me if I can in some sort express in words that faith which I hold in my heart, that so the confession may avail my soul unto salvation.* The mystery is rather to be venerated and regarded with awe, than discussed . . No man can comprehend it, no one speak of it in a manner answerable to its dignity. It is to be embraced with faith; it is neither to be searched nor found by reason...[Excerpt]
