Critical thinking as a cornerstone of a human-centred mindset towards AI use

Abstract

The increased adoption of generative Al in language education has led to questions about how students and teachers should best interact with the technology, with critical thinking being described as a fundamental component of a human-centred mindset towards the use of Al. This article examines the relationship between critical thinking and Al, showing that the use of the technology requires a solid grounding in critical thinking while also contributing to the development of people's cognitive skills.
