Abstract: Alfred Conti Borda engaged in a discussion with Father Joseph Orr about his experiences in wartime Italy with fellow Maltese Jesuits. On June 10, 1940, before Joseph could conclude his studies, the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini declared war on Britain and France. Consequently, all Maltese Jesuits with British passports who were studying or serving in Italy were instructed by their superiors to return to Bagheria without delay. Father Joseph recounted his ordeal during that time of the war.
