Abstract: This article explores the history and current state of Malta's coastal watch towers, built primarily during the rule of Grand Masters Alof de Wignacourt and Martin de Redin. These towers played a crucial role in Malta’s defensive system by relaying messages and warning of potential invasions. Many of these structures are now in various states of disrepair, with some at risk of complete ruin due to neglect and vandalism. The article highlights the importance of restoration efforts to preserve this vital part of Malta's military heritage.
Description: From the private collection of Mr. Salvino Camilleri.
