Abstract: Protestant.- I am delighted to meet you: it is a pleasure I have long desired, for I wish to have a friendly conversation with you on the subject of religion. For some time past serious doubts have troubled my mind, and I have had continual fears lest the opinions I have hitherto held on matters of religion may not be correct. It would ease my mind, therefore, to consult with you, and to take your advice on this important affair, on which the salvation of my soul depends. Nothing in this life can be of so much consequence as to learn the way in which I am to walk to heaven; for what will it avail a man if he gains the whole world and lose his own soul, or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul (St.Matt. xvi. 26.) Pray tell me, then, what, in your opinion, I ought to do to save my soul? ... (Excerpt]
