Abstract: Protestant.- I am perfectly satisfied with the explanation of the first three marks of the church, and I think I can see the necessity of the fourth mark, which is Aoostolicity. It requires every one who exercises the office of priesthood to shew that he has received his authority in a direct line from the apostles; for, as the church of Christ is a society· of Christians professing the doctrines which our Divine Saviour taught, it is natural to suppose that He appointed rulers to guide and direct them, to keep them united in the true belief, and to put an end to any divisions or misunderstandings that might arise among them....
