Abstract: CYP2C19 is the principal enzyme involved in the metabolism of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). CYP2C19 genetic polymorphisms impact response to PPIs, resulting in increased risk of therapy failure or tolerability issues. Implementation of pharmaco-genetics (PGx)-guided PPI therapy is still in its infancy.
